Marianna Hagbloom is a Research Assistant with the Anderson Cabot Center’s Right Whale Research Program. She started as a volunteer for the program in 2010 and came on staff later that year. As one of the curators of the North Atlantic Right Whale Catalog, she has developed a passion for matching the most challenging whale sightings. Another major component of her position is fieldwork, including participating in seasonal right whale surveys and assisting with a wide variety of research projects, such as investigating right whale response to colored rope mimics. Her research interests include large whale behavior and morphology. She is currently examining right whale behaviors for evidence of lateralization.
